Qualifications

• Must hold AHIMA and/or AAPC coder credential (e.g., CCA, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC-H/COC, CIC, CCS-P, CPC) and maintain annually.
• 2+ years of experience with ICD-10, CPT, and modifiers.
• 2+ years of experience in acute surgery.
• Proficient in Windows PC environment and Microsoft Excel; comfortable with EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify appropriate ICD-10, CPT codes and modifiers for facility services.
• Adhere to official coding guidelines and client-specific guidelines.
• Maintain coding quality and productivity as directed by QM and Directors.
• Understand APC codes and Medicare policies; query physicians when needed.
• Keep up-to-date coding knowledge based on internal communications.
• Participate in coding department meetings and training sessions.
