Job summary

Datavant is seeking an experienced outpatient coder to join our fully remote team. You will review records, assign and sequence codes, and ensure accurate APC assignments while maintaining high productivity.

The role emphasizes interventional radiology and same-day procedures, with CEU tracking and ongoing education. Required credentials (AHIMA/AAPC), 2+ years hospital coding, and proficiency in EPIC and 3M/Solventum.

Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC credential required.
• Interventional Radiology experience.
• 2+ years hospital or coding consulting experience.
• Proficiency in Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions.
• Proficiency in Ancillary, Emergency Department, Injections/Infusions, E/M leveling.
• Strong written and verbal communication; remote work and time management.
• Experience with encoding/abstracting software.
• EPIC and 3M/Solventum experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign and sequence codes based on documentation.
• Assign the appropriate discharge disposition.
• Abstract and enter coded data for hospital reporting requirements.
• Communicate documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues for follow-up.
• Maintain a 95% coding accuracy rate and 95% APC accuracy; meet productivity standards.
• Track continuing education credits to maintain credentials.
• Attend Datavant Health sponsored education meetings/in-services.
• Demonstrate initiative and judgment in job performance.
• Communicate with staff regarding clinical and reimbursement issues.
• Function professionally and efficiently; adhere to ethics.
• Be customer-service focused, flexible, dependable, and eager to learn.
• Handle high complexity of work and decision-making.
• Demonstrate strong organizational and teamwork skills.
• Comply with HIM Division Policies.
