Job summary

Datavant is seeking an experienced Outpatient Coder for a fully remote role. The position emphasizes high attention to detail, expertise in medical terminology, and coding accuracy across multispecialty services.

Candidates should be proficient with EPIC and 3M, and able to work independently from a home workspace. The role requires 2+ years of hospital coding experience, strong communication skills, and commitment to ongoing credential maintenance.

Qualifications

• RHIA, RHIT, CCS or CPC/CPC-H/COC/CIC/CRC credentials required or preferred.
• 2+ years coding experience in hospital or coding consulting.
• Experience with Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions.
• Strong communication and time management; adept at remote work.
• Experience with encoding/abstracting software and HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign and sequence codes based on documentation.
• Abstract and enter coded data for hospital reporting.
• Communicate coding issues for follow-up and resolution.
• Maintain high coding accuracy and APC assignment accuracy.
