Job summary

Capital Health is seeking a Hospital Outpatient Coder 2 to accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, CPT/HCPCS procedure codes, and modifiers for outpatient encounters including ERs, same day medicals, and same day surgical records.

The role requires CPC or COC preferred, knowledge of ICD-10-CM/CPT/HCPCS, encoder and EMR experience, and the ability to work remotely from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or Alabama.

Qualifications

• Requires CPC or COC certification preferred.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; detail-oriented and accurate.

Responsibilities

• Codes outpatient services including ER, outpatient in a bed, same day medicals, and same day surgical encounters.
• Ensures quality and productivity benchmarks; supports DNFB management.
• Collaborates with CDI, billing, and revenue integrity teams to improve documentation and reimbursement.
• Requests missing documentation from providers to reduce DNFB.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of outpatient coding changes and policies.
