Cognizant is seeking an Oracle – On Prem to AWS Migration Architect for a full-time remote opportunity. The role focuses on rehosting Oracle databases from on-premises to AWS, ensuring operational readiness, recoverability, performance, security, and supportability after cutover.

The Oracle DBA Lead will manage end-to-end migration, discovery, sizing, and cutover activities, with post-go-live hypercare and thorough handover to steady-state teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on Oracle DBA experience, including production support and database migration responsibilities.
• Experience migrating Oracle databases from on-premises infrastructure to AWS or another cloud environment; hands-on AWS rehost experience is strongly preferred.
• Hands-on knowledge of Oracle RAC or clustered databases and related dependencies.
• Experience with Oracle GoldenGate, cross-platform migrations, transportable tablespaces, and near-zero-downtime migration patterns.
• Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager and AWS monitoring/observability tools (e.g., CloudWatch).
• Expertise in Oracle installation, upgrade, patching, cloning, backup/recovery, performance tuning, and security.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end migration of Oracle databases from on-premises to AWS, primarily rehost to Oracle Database on Amazon EC2.
• Perform discovery and assessment of versions, editions, OS, storage, interfaces, and high-availability configurations.
• Define migration approach, prerequisites, target sizing, data-transfer method, cutover sequence, rollback, and operational handover.
• Build and configure Oracle DB environments on AWS EC2 including installation, creation, and network configuration.
• Execute schema and data migration using RMAN, Data Pump, transportable tablespaces, Data Guard, or GoldenGate.
• Plan mock migrations, production cutovers, connectivity changes, validation, rollback readiness, and post-cutover stabilization.
• Provide post-go-live hypercare and rapid triage across availability, performance, backups, and incidents.
• Create migration runbooks, validation checklists, rollback procedures, SOPs, and knowledge transfer.
