Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an Oracle – On Prem to AWS Migration Architect for a full-time remote opportunity. The Oracle DBA Lead will oversee the complete migration lifecycle, focusing on rehosting Oracle databases from on-premises to AWS while ensuring operational readiness, security, and post-cutover stability.

Responsibilities include end-to-end migration, discovery and assessment, build-out of AWS environments, and data migration using RMAN, Data Pump, or GoldenGate.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on Oracle DBA experience including migration responsibilities.
• Experience migrating Oracle databases from on-premises to AWS or another cloud environment; AWS rehost experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Oracle installations, upgrades, patching, and recovery with performance tuning.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end migration of Oracle databases from on-premises to AWS with rehost to Oracle Database on EC2.
• Perform discovery and assessment of versions, editions, OS, storage, interfaces, dependencies, jobs, and security controls.
• Define migration approach, prerequisites, sizing, outage requirements, cutover sequence, rollback, validation, and handover.
• Build and configure Oracle environments on AWS EC2, including installation, restoration, networking, storage, and access controls.
• Execute schema and data migration using RMAN, Data Pump, transportable tablespaces, Data Guard, or GoldenGate.
• Plan mock migrations, production cutovers, connectivity changes, validation, rollback readiness, and post-cutover stabilization.
• Provide limited hypercare post go-live including rapid triage and RCA for issues across availability, performance, backups, and application incidents.
• Create migration runbooks, checklists, rollback procedures, and transition documents.
• Coordinate with application, AWS cloud, network, security, and operating-system teams throughout migration and stabilization.
