Job summary

NuScale Power, LLC is seeking a Thermal-Hydraulics Engineer with extensive experience in nuclear TH analyses, RELAP5, and VIPRE. The role collaborates across Nuclear Methods, Design, and core interfaces to ensure safety margins and licensing compliance for SMR-focused projects.

You will lead system-level evaluations, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to licensing deliverables while supporting international regulatory translation of TH methodologies.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university is required.
• 8+ years of full-time, directly relevant engineering experience is required.
• Experience with subchannel thermal-hydraulics, transient analysis, and related safety analyses is required.
• Experience with RELAP5 is required.
• Eligible to work under DOE 10 CFR Part 810.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and verify VIPRE subchannel analyses, including CHF predictions and margin evaluations.
• Prepare and verify RELAP system-level TH evaluations, including LOCA and design basis evaluations.
• Lead cross-functional thermal hydraulic reviews for reload safety analyses, plant design changes, and licensing deliverables.
• Support development and maintenance of licensed TH methods and associated implementing analyses; maintain TH modeling standards.
• Translate licensed TH methods into international regulatory frameworks and adapt TH methodologies for country-specific expectations.
• Provide technical leadership within Thermal Hydraulics and mentor junior engineers.
• Contribute to licensing documentation and engage with regulators.
