Job summary

NuScale Power, LLC seeks an experienced SAUG Thermal-Hydraulics Engineer to perform advanced nuclear TH analyses using VIPRE and RELAP5, and to support license applications and design interfaces. You will collaborate across Nuclear Fuels and other engineering teams to ensure safety margins and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university.
• At least 8 years of full-time, relevant engineering experience in subchannel TH, transient analysis, and safety analyses.
• Experience with RELAP5 is required; VIPRE experience is expected.
• Eligible to work under DOE 10 CFR Part 810.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and verify VIPRE subchannel analyses, including CHF predictions and margin evaluations.
• Prepare and verify RELAP system-level TH evaluations (LOCA, transients, design basis).
• Evaluate designs and operating features for safety functions and margins; propose modifications as needed.
• Lead cross-functional TH reviews for reload safety analyses and licensing deliverables.
• Support development and maintenance of licensed TH methods and implementing analyses.
• Translate licensed TH methods to international regulatory frameworks where applicable.
• Collaborate within Nuclear Fuels to manage design/analysis interfaces.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers on complex tasks.
• Contribute to licensing documents and interact with regulators as needed.
• Prepare engineering reports and calculations with emphasis on subchannel/system TH.
