Job summary

NuScale Power, LLC is seeking a Thermal-Hydraulics Engineer 4 to join the Nuclear Fuels team. This role conducts nuclear thermal-hydraulic analyses, uses RELAP and VIPRE, and supports reload safety analyses, SMR product development, plant evaluations, and licensing work with core design and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from a four-year accredited college; advanced degree desirable.
• Minimum 8 years of full-time, directly relevant engineering experience.
• Experience in subchannel TH, transient analysis, and related safety analysis; neutronics or fuel performance preferred.
• Eligible to work under DOE 10 CFR Part 810.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and verify VIPRE subchannel analyses, including CHF predictions and margin evaluations.
• Prepare and verify RELAP system-level TH evaluations (LOCA, transients, design-basis evaluations).
• Lead cross-functional TH reviews for reload safety analyses and licensing deliverables.
• Develop licensed TH methods and maintain modeling standards; advise on code/method updates.
• Translate licensed TH methods to international regulatory frameworks and country-specific requirements.
• Prepare engineering reports, calculations, and licensing documents with emphasis on TH.
