Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking a Network Operations Engineer for real-time monitoring and incident response across a large enterprise network. You will handle eyes-on-glass monitoring, triage outages, and coordinate with ISPs in a 24x7 environment.

The role requires strong Layer 1–3 troubleshooting, Cisco exposure, and clear communication. Typical shifts are 2:00 PM–11:00 PM ET, with weekend rotation after training, and the position is remote via W2 with benefits.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in network operations or NOC with Cisco exposure.
• Experience in a 24x7 eyes-on-glass monitoring environment.
• Strong Layer 1–3 troubleshooting and incident management.
• Experience handling circuit outages, BGP, VLANs, and tunneling scenarios.
• Proven coordination with ISPs and carriers during outages.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Nice to have SolarWinds, Riverbed, packet analysis, BGP, VLANs/tunneling, Ansible, scripting/automation, AI exposure.

Responsibilities

• Monitor enterprise network health and real-time incidents across environments.
• Triage and resolve circuit and connectivity outages (BGP, tunnels, VLANs).
• Navigate Cisco devices and diagnose Layer 1–3 faults.
• Coordinate with ISPs and vendors to drive resolution.
• Communicate status through emails, calls, and updates.
• Prioritize multiple outages and maintain engagement until stabilization.
• Follow SOPs and contribute to documentation quality.
• Operate in primary/secondary rotation balancing incidents.
• Support proactive monitoring and ramp-up to independent operations.
