Job summary

SHI is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our MSP team supporting Windows Server environments and Microsoft infrastructure across multiple client sites. This role emphasizes on-premises expertise, troubleshooting, documentation, and collaboration with senior technical teams across cloud and hybrid environments.

The candidate should bring solid Microsoft experience, strong customer-facing communication, and the ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed setting.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer/Infrastructure role within MSP or enterprise
• Windows Server versions: install, patching, security, troubleshooting
• Active Directory: domain services, group policy, trusts, replication
• Experience with IIS, Remote Desktop Services, failover clustering, SQL Server dependencies
• Experience with Hyper-V/ VMware virtualization and VMs lifecycle
• PowerShell for administration and reporting
• Strong documentation and customer-facing communication

Responsibilities

• Implement, administer, and support Windows Server environments for multiple MSP clients
• Configure and troubleshoot Microsoft infrastructure services (AD, DNS, DHCP, PKI, file/print)
• Support hybrid identity and Entra ID integration
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot server apps, middleware, and dependencies
• Participate in server builds, migrations, hardware refreshes, and data center upgrades
• Troubleshoot OS, authentication, app, storage, and performance issues; escalate as needed
• Apply security hardening, patching, and privileged-access controls
• Design and support high availability using clustering, load balancing, and DR technologies
• Create PowerShell scripts for admin tasks and reporting
• Develop and maintain build docs, procedures, and knowledge articles
• Collaborate with networking, security, cloud, and app teams; support cross-platform incidents
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident response
