Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Modern Workplace Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers and administrators responsible for Microsoft 365, endpoint management, collaboration, identity, automation, and related technologies.

You will translate departmental strategy into technical execution, develop team capabilities, and provide hands‑on leadership for high‑impact initiatives, balancing people leadership with current technical expertise.

Qualifications

• Seven or more years of progressive experience in Modern Workplace technologies.
• Three or more years of formal people-management or team-leadership experience.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience acceptable.
• Hands-on experience with M365 admin and multiple Modern Workplace disciplines.
• Experience troubleshooting complex issues and guiding engineers.
• Experience designing enterprise-scale technology solutions.
• Experience reviewing designs, scripts, and operational documentation.
• Coaching, performance management, and career development support.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and stakeholder expectations.
• Knowledge of ITSM, security governance, and change-management practices.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Modern Workplace engineers and admins.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership across M365, endpoint management, collaboration, identity, security, automation, and device engineering.
• Serve as senior escalation point for complex incidents and architectural decisions.
• Participate in discovery, design, configuration, testing, deployment, and documentation.
• Review designs, plans, scripts, configurations, and procedures for quality and security.
• Manage work intake, prioritization, and resource assignment across projects.
• Translate strategy into technical roadmaps and delivery plans.
• Establish standards, practices, and accountability expectations.
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, coaching, and development planning.
• Identify skill gaps and create opportunities for cross-training and growth.
• Collaborate with leadership on platform strategy, budgeting, and vendor management.
• Coordinate delivery across Microsoft 365, Intune, Windows, macOS, MECM, Autopilot, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Entra ID, Power Platform, Copilot.
• Work with IT and security teams to deliver secure, reliable solutions.
• Monitor performance, debt, workload distribution, and delivery outcomes.
• Communicate risks, dependencies, status, and needs to leadership.
• Represent the team in reviews, governance forums, and project meetings.
