Job summary

Leidos LLC is seeking a Microgrid Project Engineer – Energy Storage and Generation Applications (Remote) to support distributed energy projects across multiple clients. You will provide owner’s engineering for PV and energy storage systems, coordinate with DER components, and ensure design and interconnection quality from development through commissioning.

The role requires strong knowledge of DER technologies, regulatory interconnections, and the ability to guide teams through complex projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a focus on power.
• Experience providing Owner’s Engineering services for PV and other power projects.
• Strong client focus and enthusiasm for innovative projects.
• Design experience in distribution, substation protection & control, or substations.
• Familiarity with NEC, IEEE 1547, IEEE 386 standards.
• Ability to create and guide drawings such as One Line Diagrams and Electrical Plans.
• Experience with DER communications protocols (IEEE 2030.5, SunSpec, Modbus, DNP3).
• Experience with DER interconnections and interconnection studies.

Responsibilities

• Provide resilient power system solutions for diverse DER assets.
• Lead client-goal oriented engineering on projects from development to interconnection.
• Collaborate with switchgear, battery, inverter, generator makers and other DER vendors.
• Design installations up to 35kV and higher-voltage interconnections.
• Coordinate with utilities and complete interconnection applications.
• Navigate legacy drawings and incomplete data to craft plans and estimates.
• Manage engineering subconsultants and construction partners.
• Represent client interests as Owner’s Engineer through lifecycle stages.
• Lead technical reviews of EPC and OEM deliverables for standards and performance.
• Support FAT, SAT, commissioning and performance testing activities.
