Job summary

Leidos Energy is seeking a Senior Microgrid Automation Engineer to lead and design microgrid and renewable energy projects. You will work across disciplines, applying SCADA/EMS expertise, DER interfaces, and protection concepts to deliver robust power solutions.

The role requires a BSEE with 4–8+ years in microgrids, strong knowledge of microgrids/renewables, and proficiency with CAD/ETAP/CAPE/CYME tools. Travel to project sites is expected.

Qualifications

• BSEE with 4–8+ years of microgrid experience.
• Strong knowledge of microgrids and renewable energy.
• Power system Protection and Control experience.
• Ability to quickly learn various client software applications and databases.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook).
• Ability to perform field work in rough terrain to access remote project locations.

Responsibilities

• Operate SCADA/EMS/IEDs/HMIs/RTUs for microgrid control.
• Apply microgrid concepts: islanding, grid-connected operation, energy management.
• Participate in FAT and SAT tests.
• Perform Hardware-in-the-Loop testing.
• Work with PV, wind, batteries and other DERs.
• Interface power electronics to DERs (inverters, converters).
• Plan/engineer telecom systems for projects.
• Create drawings/specifications and manage schedules/budgets.
• Coordinate with internal/external teams; travel to sites.
