Job summary

Leidos Energy is hiring for a Senior Microgrid Automation Engineer to join our fast-paced organization. You will lead and design microgrid and renewable energy projects, engaging with electric utility disciplines and external contractors.

Qualifications include a BSEE with 4–8+ years microgrid experience, familiarity with SCADA/EMS, protection and control concepts, and ability to travel to project sites for information gathering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with four to eight plus years of related microgrid experience.
• Strong knowledge of microgrids and renewable energy.
• Power system Protection and Control (P&C) experience.
• Ability to quickly learn and effectively use a variety of client software applications and databases.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook.
• Ability to occasionally perform field work in rough terrain to access remote project locations.

Responsibilities

• Utilize familiarity with microgrid control systems and automation technologies (SCADA, EMS, IEDs, HMIs, RTUs).
• Apply understanding of microgrid concepts (islanding, grid-connected operation, energy management).
• Participate in FAT and SAT.
• Perform Hardware in the Loop (HIL) testing.
• Demonstrate knowledge of renewable energy technologies (PV, wind, batteries, DERs).
• Use power electronics in interfacing DERs.
• Develop drawings and specifications for utility telecom projects.
• Coordinate with internal/external teams and field crews.
• Travel to project sites to collect information on existing conditions.
