Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Senior Microgrid Automation Engineer to lead design and integration of microgrid and renewable energy projects for utility clients. You will collaborate across disciplines, apply advanced automation, and ensure robust cyber-physical system integration.

Expect hands-on testing (FAT/SAT, HIL), CAD and modeling work, and field deployments across diverse sites. A BSEE with 4+ years of microgrid experience is preferred, with exposure to protective relays and power electronics.

Qualifications

• > Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with 4+ years of microgrid experience.
• }>Strong knowledge of microgrids and renewable energy.
• > Power system Protection and Control (P&C) experience.
• > Ability to quickly learn and use client software applications and databases.
• > Proficiency with Microsoft 365 apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook).
• > Ability to perform field work in rough terrain to access remote project locations.
• > Favorable: FE certification; Master’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Utilize microgrid control systems and automation technologies (SCADA, EMS, IEDs, HMIs, RTUs).
• Apply microgrid concepts: islanding, grid-connected operation, energy management, control strategies and power flow.
• Participate in FAT and SAT.
• Perform Hardware in the Loop (HIL) testing.
• Demonstrate knowledge of renewable technologies (PV, wind, batteries, DERs).
• Use power electronics to interface and control DERs.
• Plan and engineer telecom systems and projects.
• Establish project schedules and budgets.
• Develop drawings and specifications for telecom systems.
• Coordinate with internal and external teams; travel to project sites as needed.
• Cad and simulation tools proficiency; modeling software ( ASPEN, CAPE, CYME, ETAP, SKM).
• Familiarity with DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61131, AcSELerator RTAC, SEL 5030 Quickset, GE Cimplicity, Protocol Test Software.
