Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Medical Records Coder II for a 100% remote role. You will code medical records using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4, coordinate staff work, and contribute to education initiatives within the Patient Revenue Management Organization. The position supports hospital and professional charges and requires appropriate coding certifications.

Sign-on bonus of $10,000 is offered, paid in four equal installments over 24 months. Remote workers must reside in eligible states.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Active certifications: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or HCS-D.
• CCS requires 1 year of coding experience; CPC or HCS-D requires 2 years of coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Code medical records using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 conventions.
• Coordinate/review work of subordinate staff and support education programs.
• Ensure accurate DRG/APC assignment and reimbursement.
• Abstract data for billing, educate physicians on coding practices, and support quality audits.
