Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Medical Records Coder II to code complex medical records using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 conventions. This remote role coordinates staff, ensures accurate diagnoses/procedures, and supports education programs for ongoing coding accuracy.

Ideal candidates hold RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CPC/HCS-D certifications with experience in DRG/APC reimbursement and strong communication skills. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is offered and remote workers must reside in one of listed states.

Qualifications

• RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CPC/HCS-D certifications active.
• High school diploma required.
• Experience requirements: CCS 1 year; CPC/HCS-D 2 years.
• Active/current certifications must be in hospital coding.

Responsibilities

• Review complex medical records and code diagnoses/procedures using ICD-10-CM and CPT conventions.
• Coordinate/review work of designated staff and assist with education programs.
• Abstract data from records for reimbursement and reporting.
• Communicate coding practices with physicians and care teams.
• Maintain understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
