Job summary

American Red Cross seeks a Therapeutic and Cellular Solutions Medical Director to lead medical oversight for cellular therapies and donor services. This 50/50 role focuses on program development, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with executives to advance innovative transfusion medicine initiatives.

You will guide policy for cell collection, storage, and infusion, oversee CLIA and FACT accreditation readiness, and serve as a medical liaison to external partners while supporting regional

Qualifications

• MD/DO with Board Certification in Transfusion Medicine or Hematology/Oncology.
• 5+ years experience in Cell Therapy and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HCT)
• Experience with FACT accreditation processes and AABB Standards for cellular therapy.
• Knowledge of FDA regulations governing HCT/Ps.
• Demonstrated leadership in program development with regulatory accreditation.
• Ability to lead strategic growth and manage multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience with investigator-initiated trials or translational research is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Direct medical strategy and operations for regulated cellular therapies (HPCs, CAR-T, Leukopaks).
• Partner with executive leadership to expand collection footprints and optimize production of cellular products.
• Contribute to expansion of cellular services through outreach, partnerships and new programs.
• Serve as medical office representative on committees; liaison for biotech partners on donor eligibility and product specs.
• Provide medical oversight for transfer of protocols from research to clinical-grade production.
• Investigate and resolve donor/recipient concerns and transfusion issues with leadership notification.
• Provide medical consultation in transfusion medicine to hospital clients; oversee donor management and product investigations.
