Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is hiring a remote Medical Coder to review professional and facility claims. You will abstract and code diagnoses and procedures from medical records, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and active CPT/ICD-10 coding credentials (CPC, CPC-A, COC, CCS, CCS-P, CCA, RHIA or RHIT) with 1+ year of experience in CPT and ICD-10 coding. 40-hour work weeks with flexible shifts within 5am–5pm and compensation based on experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Active coding certification to include CPC, CPC-A, COC, CCS, CCS-P, CCA, RHIA or RHIT.
• 1+ years of medical coding experience with CPT.
• 1+ year of medical coding experience with ICD-10.

Responsibilities

• Receive assigned provider inquiries and perform a code review on professional and facility claims.
• Make determinations on cases after coding review is complete.
• Review edits on cases and audit medical records to ensure proper editing.
• Review medical charts electronically.
• Abstract and code diagnosis and procedures from the medical record.
• Supply procedure and diagnosis codes for benefit coding requests.
• Document information from the medical record as requested.
• Analyze medical record charts for coding compliance.
