Job summary

Sprinter Health is seeking a Coding Manager in San Francisco to lead a remote coding team and oversee accuracy, compliance, and timely code assignment for in-home and virtual services.

You will build a robust coding education program, set policies, and partner withRevenue Cycle, Compliance, and auditing to address issues and trends while promoting a learning culture and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Active AAPC (e.g., CPC, COC) or AHIMA (CCS-P, CCS) certification.
• Minimum 5 years of professional coding experience, with at least 2 years in a senior/supervisory role.
• Strong understanding of pro-fee coding across preventive, primary, diagnostics, and virtual care.
• Deep knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, modifiers and payer guidelines.
• Experience designing and delivering coding education and mentoring coders.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and support a remote coding team, setting clear expectations and 1:1s.
• Oversee day-to-day coding operations, queues, workload balancing, and turnaround time.
• Serve as primary escalation for coding questions, partner with Revenue Cycle and audit teams.
• Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS and payer guidelines.
• Develop and socialize coding policies, playbooks, and training materials.
• Own a comprehensive coding education program with onboarding and milestones.
• Provide ongoing training on guideline updates and payer changes.
• Create a centralized library of training materials for coders.
• Offer coaching based on performance data and audit trends; support certifications.
• Foster a learning culture with peer knowledge sharing and HIPAA compliance.
• Maintain confidentiality and high standards in a remote, fast-growing setting.
