Job summary

UnitedHealth Group, operating through Optum, is seeking experienced medical coders for remote work within the United States. The role focuses on accurate ICD-10 and CPT coding for Primary Care and Family Medicine, using AHIMA/AAPC credentials and Epic EMR systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• AHIMA/AAPC coder certification must be maintained annually.
• 2+ years of experience with Windows PCs, including MS Excel and EMR systems.
• 2+ years of ICD-10 and CPT coding with a focus in Primary Care and Family Med.

Responsibilities

• Assigns accurate diagnostic and procedure codes per clinical documentation and guidelines.
• Assigns CPT and ICD-10 codes to all services.
• Monitors work queues to ensure timely charging and coding.
• Generates coding queries for clarification on physician documentation.
• Keeps up to date with changes in coding conventions and updates.
• Manages workload efficiently and meets deadlines with minimal supervision.
• All other duties as assigned.
