Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a professional coder to join its Optum family from anywhere in the United States. You will apply ICD-10 and CPT codes to primary care and family medicine services, maintain credentialing, and work within Epic EMR to support timely, accurate billing.

The role requires AHIMA/AAPC certification, at least 2 years of coding experience, and strong Windows/Excel proficiency to handle multiple urgent queues efficiently.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Professional coder certification (AHIMA and/or AAPC) to be maintained annually.
• 2+ years of PC use in a Windows environment including MS Excel.
• 2+ years of ICD-10 and CPT coding experience focused on Primary Care/Family Med.

Responsibilities

• Assigns accurate diagnostic and procedure codes per clinical documentation and guidelines.
• Assigns CPT and ICD-10 codes to all services.
• Monitors work queues to ensure timely charging/coding of records.
• Generates coding queries for clarification on physician documentation as needed.
