Job summary

Optum is seeking a skilled medical coder to join our national remote team. You will assign CPT and ICD-10 codes for outpatient hospital services, review clinical documentation, and help ensure timely and accurate billing.

The role requires CPC certification, 5+ years in pro-fee coding for orthopedics and podiatry, and familiarity with Epic and Medicare guidelines. Telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S. is supported, with competitive hourly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• CPC coding certification with AHIMA or AAPC credentialing maintained annually.
• 5+ years pro-fee coding experience in Orthopedics and podiatry services.
• Knowledge of Medicare guidelines and modifier application.
• Experience with Epic systems and denial management.

Responsibilities

• Assigns CPT and ICD-10 codes per documentation for outpatient hospital accounts.
• Monitors coding work queues to ensure timely charging.
• Generates coding queries to clarify physician documentation.
• Keeps up with changes in coding conventions and updates.
• Manages workloads efficiently under pressure with minimal supervision.
• Performs tasks with limited procedures where applicable.
• Performs basic tasks with some supervision.
• Higher level tasks require supervision.
