Job summary

Optum is seeking a Coding Specialist to accurately assign CPT and ICD-10 codes for outpatient hospital professional accounts. You will monitor queues, generate queries, and stay current with coding updates.

This role requires CPC certification, 5+ years in pro-fee coding for orthopedics and podiatry, and proficiency with Epic. Remote work is supported within the U.S. and telecommuter policy applies.

Qualifications

• CPC certification with AHIMA or AAPC credentialing.
• 5+ years pro-fee coding in Orthopedics and podiatry.
• Proficiency in Medicare guidelines and modifier use.
• Experience with Epic and handling denials.
• Telecommuting policy compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assign accurate diagnostic and procedure codes per clinical documentation and guidelines.
• Assign CPT and ICD-10 codes.
• Monitor work queues to ensure timely charging/coding of records.
• Generate coding queries for clarification of documentation as needed.
• Stay updated on changes in coding conventions and updates.
• Manage workload efficiently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Some tasks may be performed without established procedures; higher tasks may require supervision.
