Job summary

Optum is seeking a Coding Specialist to assign CPT/ICD-10 codes for outpatient hospital professional accounts and to maintain coding accuracy. You will work within established guidelines, manage denials, and stay current with coding updates.

This remote role allows telecommuting from anywhere in the United States. A CPC certification and 5+ years of pro-fee coding in orthopedics and podiatry are required, with Epic experience preferred.

Qualifications

• CPC certification with credentialing from AHIMA and/or AAPC, renewed annually.
• 5+ years pro-fee coding experience in Orthopedics and podiatry services.
• Intermediate knowledge of Medicare guidelines and modifier application.
• Experience with Epic EMR and handling denials as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assigns accurate diagnostic and procedure codes for outpatient hospital professional accounts.
• Monitors work queues to ensure records are charged/coded timely.
• Generates coding queries for clarification of physician documentation.
• Keeps up to date with changes in coding conventions and updates.
• Manages workload and meets deadlines with minimal supervision.
