Job summary

This full-time position is remote with daytime hours. Responsibilities include analyzing documentation, resolving coding denials, staying current with coding guidelines, maintaining certifications, and supporting physicians with coding

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must have AAPC certification or AHIMA CCSP certification.
  • 2 years physician medical coding experience; surgical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately assigns ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS codes with modifiers and other codes.
  • Analyzes information for proper reimbursement and resolves coding denials.
  • Reviews provider documentation to identify missing or unclear information.
  • Manages high volumes of inventory within departmental standards.
  • Maintains departmental quality and production standards.
  • Obtains continuing education through UNC Physicians approved programs and vendors.
  • Maintains required professional certification.
