Qualifications

• Must hold active AHIMA (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CCA, CDIP) or AAPC (CPC, CPC-H or equivalents).
• Completed ICD-10 training/CEUs as required to maintain credential.
• Completed accredited program in coding, health information management, or health information technology.
• Minimum 6–8 years of outpatient or inpatient coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient admissions, ambulatory surgeries, and outpatient encounters (including ancillary, prosthetics, and other services).
• Code inpatient professional services and non-VA care under VA auspices as directed.
• Perform limited coding audits/validation reviews when requested.
• Comply with HIPAA and VA information security/privacy requirements.
