Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a Medical Coder to abstract billing for outpatient E/M services and related procedures, assigning CPT-4 and ICD-10 codes to medical records to support physicians’ professional fees.

The role requires CPC certification and at least two years of coding experience, with strong accuracy and communication skills. Onsite testing in Marlton, NJ is required prior to interview. The position offers competitive hourly pay and a robust benefits package.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of medical records coding experience or equivalent, with CPC certification.
• Experience in a Microsoft Windows environment.
• Must be detail-oriented and accurate.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience with an electronic health record system preferred.
• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology/medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Abstract billing for outpatient E/M codes and procedures, assigning CPT-4 and ICD-10 codes from provider documentation.
• Research coding/billing issues and advise on best coding methods, interfacing with AMA or specialty societies as needed.
• Analyze records to assess coding accuracy and patterns of potential abuse, coordinating with Coding/Charge/Audit Analysts.
