Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a remote Medical Coder to accurately abstract billing information from medical records and assign CPT-4, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes for outpatient services. The role requires CPC certification and at least two years of coding experience, with preference for EHR familiarity and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Two years of records coding experience or equivalent education.
• Detail oriented with high accuracy in tasks.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience with an electronic health record system preferred.
• Knowledge of Anatomy & Physiology/Medical terminology.
• CPC (Certified Professional Coder) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Abstract billing for outpatient E/M codes, minor procedures and HCPCS; assign CPT-4 and ICD-10 codes and modifiers.
• Research coding/billing issues and consult with AMA or specialty groups as needed.
• Analyze medical records to assess coding accuracy and potential abuse; coordinate with Coding/Charge/Audit Analysts.
