Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant II for a 100% remote position serving the Charlotte market. Candidates must reside in North Carolina or South Carolina and be eligible for the remote work policy.

The role supports the care team with clinical and administrative tasks, including rooming patients, collecting specimens, assisting with exams, administering vaccines and IV therapy, and coordinating follow-up care while ensuring patient safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or may have completed structured military training which is clinical in nature per DD214 in lieu of a formal medical assistant program or EM
• Recognized or certified as a CMA or RMA by one of the following National Organizations: AAMA, NHA, NHCWA, NCCT, ARMA, AMT, NAHP, NRMA
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
• Two years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Room patients, obtain vital signs, and update medical information.
• Collect specimens and perform basic laboratory testing using infection control standards.
• Assist providers with exams, procedures, and minor surgeries.
• Administer medications, immunizations, injections, and IV therapy as permitted.
• Educate patients and coordinate follow-up care, referrals, appointments, and prescription refills.
• Document patient information and communicate effectively with providers and care team members.
• Perform advanced clinical procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, spirometry, wound care, catheterization, and suture/staple removal, as trained and supervised.
• Prepare, clean, stock, and maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies.
• Perform equipment maintenance, sterilization, and quality checks.
• Support quality improvement, patient-centered care, and care management initiatives.
• Deliver age-appropriate care while assessing and addressing the unique needs of patients across the lifespan.
