Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant II for a 100% remote role supporting telemedicine services for the Charlotte market. The position requires NC or SC residency, with a standard 40-hour work week and hours 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM from Monday to Friday, including a daily lunch break.

The role involves rooming patients, vitals, basic lab tests, coordinating follow-up care, and assisting providers with exams and minor procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of accredited Medical Assistant program or may have completed structured military training which is clinical in nature per DD214 in lieu of a formal medical assistant program or EM
• Recognized or certified as a CMA or RMA by one of the following National Organizations: AAMA, NHA, NHCWA, NCCT, ARMA AMT, NAHP, NRMA
• Current AHA BLS certification and two years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Room patients, obtain vital signs, and update medical information.
• Collect specimens and perform basic laboratory testing using infection control standards.
• Assist providers with exams, procedures, and minor surgeries.
• Administer medications, immunizations, injections, and IV therapy as permitted.
• Educate patients and coordinate follow-up care, referrals, appointments, and prescription refills.
• Document patient information and communicate effectively with providers and care team members.
• Perform advanced clinical procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, spirometry, wound care, catheterization, and suture/staple removal, as trained and supervised.
• Prepare, clean, stock, and maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies.
• Perform equipment maintenance, sterilization, and quality checks.
• Support quality improvement, patient-centered care, and care management initiatives.
• Deliver age-appropriate care while assessing and addressing the unique needs of patients across the lifespan.
