Job summary

Advocate Health Care is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant II to support virtual primary care operations in the Charlotte market. The role is 100% remote with residency requirements for North Carolina or South Carolina, and includes a sign-on bonus for eligible candidates.

The Medical Assistant II will perform both clinical and administrative duties, support care teams, and ensure patient safety and confidentiality in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent military clinical training.
• Certified CMA or RMA by AAMA, NHA, NCCT, AMT, NRMA, NAHP, ARMA or similar organizations.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Two years of clinical Medical Assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, obtain vital signs, update medical information.
• Collect specimens and perform basic laboratory testing per infection control standards.
• Assist providers with exams, procedures, and minor surgeries.
• Administer medications, immunizations, injections, and IV therapy as permitted.
• Educate patients and coordinate follow-up care, referrals, and prescriptions.
• Document patient information and communicate with providers and care team.
• Perform advanced procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, spirometry, wound care, catheterization, and suturing/stapling as trained.
