Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Master Network & Security Engineer to lead design, operation, and troubleshooting of enterprise network-security infrastructure. You will work with Palo Alto NGFWs, Panorama, and Cortex XSIAM while coordinating with SOC and infrastructure teams to minimize risk and maintain highly available services.

The role is fully remote within the United States, requiring deep expertise in firewall design, segmentation, and high-availability deployments.

Qualifications

Master’s degree or equivalent experience in cybersecurity, IT, CS or engineering.
10+ years in network engineering/security; 6+ years Palo Alto NGFW in enterprise.
Expertise with PAN-OS, Panorama, and high-availability configurations.

Responsibilities

Design, deploy, and manage Palo Alto NGFW environments and PAN-OS.
Own centralized firewall management via Panorama, including templates and upgrades.
Develop secure, zero-trust policies and segmentation across networks.
Configure zones, NAT, VPNs, decryption, URL filtering, and App-ID policies.
Lead HA deployments (Active/Passive, Active/Active) and failover testing.
Collaborate with SOC, cloud, and IT teams to reduce risk and ensure uptime.
Mentor junior engineers and produce runbooks and standards.
