Job summary

Sigma Technologies is seeking an experienced Make Ready Designer to support overhead pole design and joint-use projects remotely in the United States. You will translate field data into construction-ready designs while applying NESC clearances and standards.

The role focuses on make-ready and joint-use design, pole loading analysis, and complex coordination with utilities. A strong CAD/MicroStation background and familiarity with DDS or O-Calc are highly valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree or higher in engineering, drafting, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in make-ready engineering, joint-use design, or electric power distribution design (3+ years strongly preferred).
• Proven experience in utility pole design, including NESC application, clearance analysis, pole loading concepts, and construction-ready design packages.
• Proficiency with CAD or MicroStation; experience with DDS, Katapult, O-Calc or similar platforms strongly preferred.
• Solid understanding of power distribution construction practices and ability to learn utility-specific proprietary systems.
• Authorization to work in the United States; valid driver's license and routine travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Complete make-ready and overhead pole design work orders meeting quality, schedule, and budget expectations.
• Review field collection data, pole information, attachment details, and existing conditions.
• Evaluate joint-use attachments, NESC clearances, pole loading, and required modifications.
• Develop construction-ready make-ready designs including pole replacements, transfers, attachments, guying, and anchoring.
• Apply NESC requirements, construction standards, and client-specific criteria.
• Perform end-to-end make-ready and joint-use design and support related overhead distribution work.
• Conduct permitting and easement research including pole ownership and rights-of-way.
• Collaborate with teams to resolve design conflicts and field data discrepancies.
• Use DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, PoleForeman, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS and related systems.
• Support quality-control reviews to ensure deliverables are accurate and complete.
