Job summary

Sigma Technologies, Ltd. is seeking an experienced Make Ready Designer to support engineering programs for electric and telecommunications utilities.

This remote role focuses on overhead make-ready, joint-use design, evaluating pole conditions, applying NESC clearances, and developing construction-ready designs. Ideal candidates bring 2+ years in make-ready or related design, proficiency with CAD/MicroStation, and familiarity with DDS/Katapult/O-Calc or similar platforms.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher preferred
• 2+ years in make-ready engineering, joint-use design, or electric power distribution design
• Experience with utility pole design, NESC application, and pole-loading concepts
• Proficiency with CAD or MicroStation; familiarity with DDS, Katapult, O-Calc or similar platforms
• Solid understanding of power distribution construction practices and ability to learn proprietary systems

Responsibilities

• Complete make-ready and overhead pole design work orders meeting quality, schedule, and budget
• Review field data, pole information, attachment details, and conditions
• Evaluate joint-use attachments, NESC clearances, pole loading, and required modifications
• Develop construction-ready make-ready designs including pole replacements and attachments
• Apply NESC requirements and client design criteria
• Perform end-to-end make-ready and joint-use design support
• Conduct permitting and easement research
• Collaborate with project teams to resolve design conflicts
• Use DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, PoleForeman, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS
• Perform quality-control reviews and support additional design tasks
