Job summary

Sigma Technologies is seeking an experienced Make Ready Designer to translate field data and pole conditions into accurate construction-ready make-ready designs for overhead distribution. This remote U.S.

role focuses on joint-use and pole design, applying NESC clearances and client standards within a collaborative team. Ideal candidates will have 2+ years in make-ready or electric power distribution design, CAD proficiency, and experience with DDS, Katapult, O-Calc or similar systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in make-ready engineering, joint-use design, or electric power distribution design.
• Strong background in utility pole design and NESC application.
• Proficiency with CAD or MicroStation; experience with DDS, Katapult, O-Calc or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

• Complete make-ready and overhead utility pole design work orders to meet quality, schedule, and budget.
• Review and interpret field collection and walkout data, pole information, attachment details, and existing conditions.
• Evaluate joint-use attachments, NESC clearances, pole loading, and required make-ready modifications.
• Develop construction-ready make-ready designs including pole replacements, transfers, attachment adjustments, guying, and anchoring.
• Apply NESC requirements, utility standards, engineering guidelines, and client criteria.
• Perform end-to-end make-ready and joint-use design and support related overhead distribution design when required.
• Conduct permitting and easement research including pole ownership and rights-of-way.
• Collaborate with project teams to resolve design conflicts and field-data discrepancies.
• Use DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, PoleForeman, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS and other systems.
• Perform quality-control reviews to ensure deliverables are accurate and complete.
