Job summary

Rugby Architectural Building Products is seeking a Procurement Specialist to source suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely delivery of lumber and building materials. This primarily remote role is based in the Mid-West or West Coast with occasional travel to branch locations.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in supply chain or related fields, strong negotiation skills, and proficiency with procurement software.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years’ experience in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Procurement Specialist in the lumber field.
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
• Excellent understanding of supply chain management principles and best practices.
• Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with reliable suppliers and vendors. Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to secure the best deals.
• Develop and implement purchasing strategies to meet the company’s needs for lumber and building materials. Analyze market trends and adjust procurement plans accordingly.
• Place orders, monitor inventory levels, and ensure timely delivery of products. Manage and resolve any issues related to order fulfillment and quality.
• Monitor and analyze purchasing costs. Develop strategies to reduce expenses and improve cost-efficiency while maintaining product quality.
• Coordinate with inventory and warehouse teams to ensure optimal stock levels. Assist in forecasting demand and adjusting procurement schedules as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier information. Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, costs, and performance metrics.
• Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and legal regulations. Stay updated on industry standards and best practices.
