Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking a litigation support professional to assist attorneys in trial preparation and discovery. You will draft pleadings and discovery documents, organize medical records, and help prepare witnesses and exhibits under supervision.

Role requires strong legal research, confidentiality, and familiarity with insurance-related law. Remote work is supported with travel up to 10% as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience providing customer-driven solutions or services.
• Experience performing legal research and summarizing medical records for discovery and trial.
• Experience drafting pleadings, motions, deposition summaries, discovery responses and legal correspondence with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of insurance, legal ethics rules and high confidentiality standards.
• Experience with PC software and legal research tools (Westlaw, Trial Pad, MS Office, Acrobat).
• Understanding of tort and contract law and the judicial system.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorney in trial preparation.
• Draft pleadings, discovery documents, motions, deposition summaries, abstracts, and legal memorandums under supervision.
• Aid in organizing and summarizing medical records for discovery and trial prep.
• Conduct investigations and discovery under limited supervision.
• Draft discovery responses and help prepare witnesses and demonstrative evidence.
• Assist in complex depositions, hearings, and trials as needed.
• Represent insured or company in small claims or conciliation court if applicable by jurisdiction.
• Review files to determine issues, needed records, and settlement possibilities.
