American Family Insurance Agency Staff is seeking a legal support professional to assist attorneys in defined phases of litigation or non-litigation work under close supervision. The role is remote in the Portland, OR area with hourly compensation and relocation support for eligible candidates.

The position emphasizes trial preparation, drafting pleadings and discovery documents, organizing medical records, and conducting investigative work under supervision.

Qualifications

• Experience providing legal support or paralegal assistance.
• Ability to perform legal research and summarize medical records.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery materials with minimal supervision.
• Prepare witnesses and exhibits for trial and assist in depositions.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow ethical guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorney in trial preparation.
• Draft pleadings, discovery documents, motions, deposition summaries, abstracts, correspondence and legal memorandums under the supervision of an attorney.
• Aid in organization, summarization and evaluation of medical records in discovery and for trial prep.
• Conduct investigations and discovery under limited supervision.
• Draft discovery responses and assist in witness preparation for trial.
• Assist attorney in complex depositions, hearings, trials and similar settings as needed.
• Represent insured or the company in small claims/conconciliation court for defense or subrogation if applicable.
• Review files to determine issues, records needed and potential settlement.
