Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking a legal support professional to assist attorneys in trial preparation and discovery. You will draft pleadings, summarize medical records, and help organize evidence for trial under attorney supervision.

The role involves remote work within the Portland, OR metro area, exposure to insurance and tort/contract law, and collaboration with the legal services team. Compensation ranges hourly from $27.46 to $45.11 with relocation support for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

Demonstrated experience performing legal research and preparing pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
Experience gathering and summarizing medical records for trial preparation.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and understand insurance, legal ethics rules.
Familiarity with trial software and legal research tools such as Westlaw, Trial Pad, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

Assist attorney in trial preparation.
Draft pleadings, discovery documents, motions, deposition summaries, and legal memorandums under supervision.
Organize and summarize medical records for discovery and trial preparation.
Conduct investigations and discovery under limited supervision.
Prepare discovery responses and assist with witness prep and demonstratives for trial.
Support in depositions, hearings, and trials as needed.
Represent insured or company in small claims where applicable by jurisdiction.
