Job summary

Vultr is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to design, administer, and optimize Linux-based infrastructure across global data centers. You will work with engineers, operations, and data center teams to ensure secure, scalable, and high-performing systems.

The role emphasizes hands-on troubleshooting, automation, and collaboration to support a growing cloud platform with robust infrastructure and security practices.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency administering Linux systems (CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu).
• Experience with shell scripting (Bash, Python) and system troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with virtualization, networking, and data center deployments.
• Experience configuring web servers, databases, caching, firewalls, and security hardening.
• Knowledge of distributed storage (Ceph) and scalable infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and upgrade Linux infrastructure to support scalability and reliability.
• Administer Linux servers, diagnose performance or security issues, and implement fixes.
• Serve as escalation point for Linux-related issues and root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations for data center deployments and migrations.
• Monitor systems, maintain security posture, and ensure compliance with standards.
• Develop automation and tooling to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
• Create and maintain documentation, diagrams, and operational practices.
