Job summary

Vultr is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to design, administer, and optimize Linux-based infrastructure supporting our global customer base and data center operations. You will work across systems, applications, and networking layers to maintain secure, reliable environments and contribute to infrastructure upgrades.

The role requires independent judgment, strong Linux expertise, and collaboration with engineering and operations teams to enable scalable growth in a high-growth cloud

Qualifications

• Proficient with Linux systems (CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu) and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Bash or Python scripting.
• Familiarity with virtualization, networking, or software development.
• Hands-on with web servers, databases, caching, and firewalls.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and implement Linux system upgrades, enhancements, and infrastructure changes to support scalability and reliability.
• Administer and maintain Linux servers and services, applying systems analysis to diagnose and resolve complex performance, stability, or security issues.
• Serve as a technical escalation point for Linux-related issues, analyzing root cause and determining remediation strategies.
• Partner with engineering and operations teams to design and support new data center deployments, including system configuration and application readiness.
• Perform application and system migrations, evaluating dependencies, risks, and execution approaches.
• Monitor system performance and security posture, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions to maintain compliance with security standards.
• Develop and maintain automation, scripts, and tooling to improve operational efficiency.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, and operational standards to support consistent administration and scaling.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align systems administration with platform reliability, scalability, and business objectives.
