Job summary

Vultr is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to design, administer, and optimize Linux-based infrastructure for a global customer base. Collaborate across systems, applications, and networking to ensure secure, reliable environments and support platform expansion.

You will work with engineering, operations, and data center teams while applying advanced Linux administration expertise to solve complex, non-routine challenges and scale Vultr’s cloud infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience administering Linux systems and troubleshooting complex issues.
• Scripting skills in Bash or Python required or highly beneficial.
• Experience with virtualization or networking is a plus.
• Hands-on with web servers, databases, caching, and firewalls.
• Strong understanding of Linux utilities, server architecture, and security hardening.
• Knowledge of distributed storage (Ceph) is a plus.
• Familiarity with load balancing and core networking concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and implement Linux system upgrades and infrastructure changes.
• Administer and maintain Linux servers and services; diagnose performance/security issues.
• Serve as escalation point for Linux-related issues and remediation strategies.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations to deploy new data centers; ensure readiness.
• Migrate applications and systems with dependency/risk assessment.
• Monitor security posture and system performance; enforce compliance standards.
• Develop automation, scripts, and tooling to improve efficiency.
• Create and maintain technical docs, diagrams, and standards.
