Job summary

Vultr is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to design, administer, and optimize Linux-based infrastructure for our global customer base and data center operations. The ideal candidate is technically driven, detail-oriented, and capable of diagnosing complex system issues with scalable solutions.

You will work across systems, applications, and networking layers to maintain secure environments, contribute to upgrades, and support platform expansion.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency administering Linux systems (CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu).
• Experience applying systems-level troubleshooting to resolve non-routine issues.
• Scripting with Bash or Python.
• Experience with virtualization, networking, or software development is a plus.
• Hands-on experience configuring web servers, databases, caching solutions, and firewalls.
• Understanding of Linux utilities, server architecture, security hardening, storage (Ceph), and load balancing.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and implement Linux system upgrades and infrastructure changes for scalability and reliability.
• Administer and maintain Linux servers and services, diagnosing performance, stability, or security issues.
• Serve as escalation point for Linux issues, determine remediation strategies.
• Collaborate with engineering and ops teams to support data center deployments and readiness.
• Perform migrations with dependency/risk assessment and safe execution approaches.
• Monitor performance and security posture; implement actions to meet security standards.
• Develop and maintain automation, scripts, and tooling to improve efficiency.
• Produce documentation and diagrams to support standard administration and scaling.
