Job summary

Manulife/John Hancock is hiring a Life Underwriting Auditor to lead post-issue audits of underwriting initiatives, assess guideline adherence, and ensure decisions align with pricing and mortality assumptions. You will partner with Underwriting Management, Risk, and Training to develop CAPs, monitor remediation, and support the risk-control framework.

Qualifications

• Several years (typically 5+ years) of life underwriting experience.
• Strong understanding of life insurance products and underwriting guidelines.
• Ability to interpret complex medical/financial information for risk assessment.
• Excellent analytical, attention to detail, and reporting skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication with leadership.
• Professionalism and discretion with sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Conduct post issue audits of underwriting initiatives for technical accuracy.
• Review decisions for medical, financial, and operational soundness.
• Identify errors, trends, and report findings to management.
• Collaborate with Underwriting, Risk and Training to CAPs and remediation.
• Support enhancement of Underwriting Risk Control Framework.
• Translate audit findings into targeted training and guidelines.
• Test new tools and GenAI solutions for impact on quality.
• Ensure audit documentation for internal and regulatory reviews.
