Job summary

Manulife/John Hancock is actively seeking a Life Underwriting Auditor for a remote role open to any location in the continental US. You will audit underwriting initiatives, assess guideline adherence, and report findings to inform risk controls and pricing assumptions.

You will collaborate with Underwriting, Risk, Training, and Innovation teams to drive CAPs, improve governance, and translate audit results into actionable training and tools.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in life insurance underwriting including medical and financial underwriting.
• Strong understanding of life insurance products, guidelines, and risk selection principles.
• Ability to interpret complex medical and financial information and assess risk.
• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and pattern recognition in audit findings.
• Strong written and verbal communication, able to present findings clearly to leadership.

Responsibilities

• Conduct post issue audits and monitoring of new underwriting initiatives to assess technical accuracy and guideline adherence.
• Review underwriting decisions for medical, financial, and operational soundness.
• Identify material errors, trends, and themes in audit results and prepare clear reports and recommendations for management.
• Collaborate with Underwriting Management and Risk Management to develop CAPs and track remediation progress.
• Support enhancement of the Underwriting Risk Control Framework, including KRIs and governance standards.
• Partner with Training to translate audit findings into targeted training and guideline clarifications.
• Provide input into innovation initiatives by testing tools and evaluating impact on underwriting quality and risk.
• Assist with design and execution of targeted audits for Underwriting Innovation.
• Ensure audit documentation is complete and suitable for internal and regulatory review.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of audit frameworks and reporting.
