Job summary

Patriot Software, a remote-first payroll and accounting software company, is seeking a Lead, Tax Resolution Specialist III to resolve payroll tax notices and lead the Tax Resolution and Tax Settings teams.

This role blends hands-on tax resolution work (about 70%) with leadership (about 30%), works Mon-Fri 9 AM-6 PM ET, and is remote.

You will work with the Tax Manager to define best practices, coach teammates, and deliver clear resolutions to customers.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of payroll or payroll tax experience responding to customer inquiries and tax notices.
• 1+ years handling escalations and 2+ years leading in a customer support setting.
• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax procedures across all 50 states.

Responsibilities

• Work the tax notice queue, research root causes, and communicate clear resolutions to customers.
• Take escalated customer calls, perform quality checks, and coach team members with constructive feedback.
• Partner with the Tax Manager to develop the Tax Resolution and Tax Settings teams and define what good looks like.
