Job summary

Bowman is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to join our team remotely. The role focuses on providing advanced systems engineering expertise to design, implement, and support enterprise infrastructure across North America, guiding junior staff and leading complex projects while ensuring reliability, security, and scalability.

Key responsibilities include designing and deploying hybrid environments, automating with PowerShell and Power Platform tools, and collaborating with business leaders and IT

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
• Eight or more (8+) years of progressive IT experience, including five (5+) years of advanced systems engineering experience.
• Advanced systems and cloud certifications preferred (e.g., Azure, VMware, AWS).
• Experience with Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Entra ID, and related identity management solutions.
• Experience with automation, scripting, configuration management, and infrastructure-as-code principles.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, configure, secure, and maintain enterprise systems, server environments, storage platforms, and cloud infrastructure.
• Lead complex infrastructure deployments, upgrades, migrations, and integration projects.
• Architect and support hybrid environments involving Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and cloud-based services.
• Administer and optimize virtualization technologies, including VMware ESXi, Hyper‑V, and VDI platforms.
• Manage enterprise backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and high-availability solutions.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure standards, configuration management practices, and operational procedures.
• Design and implement automation solutions utilizing PowerShell, Power Automate, PowerApps, or similar technologies.
• Monitor infrastructure health, capacity, security compliance, and system performance, proactively addressing risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Provide advanced escalation support and technical leadership for IT operations and service delivery teams.
• Communicate project status, risks, recommendations, and technical solutions to management and stakeholders.
