Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions seeks an experienced Lead Hardware Engineer to guide the design of complex electrical boards in 3U/6U VPX form factors, including SBC, FPGA, switch, and I/O cards. The role emphasizes technical leadership across hardware, software, and firmware, with DoD-focused experience.

Based in New Hampshire with remote options, you will mentor engineers, drive design quality through testing and qualification, and deliver secure, high-reliability hardware solutions for

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; DoD embedded systems experience preferred.
• Led hardware designs for SBC/FPGA/SBC and I/O cards in high-reliability environments.
• Experience with high-density interconnect PCBs and HDI techniques.

Responsibilities

• Lead collaboration with engineering, project management, test, and operations teams to meet demanding customer requirements.
• Lead design and development of 3U/6U VPX SBC, FPGA, switch, and I/O cards for high-speed data processing.
• Oversee custom form-factor systems including SBC/FPGA/Switch/I/O with power and thermal management; include LFT methods.
• Provide technical leadership translating requirements into architectures and hardware solutions.
• Evaluate feasibility and balance performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Serve as technical lead for hardware development, reviews, and decision-making.
• Lead hardware testing, qualification, and troubleshooting to meet specs and customer expectations.
• Establish engineering best practices to improve time-to-market and reliability.
• Develop and maintain design docs, procedures, and manuals.
• Mentor engineers and guide team development through projects.
